In cellar basement construction the preferred method we use is to use a plastic membrane system this allows the water to pass through the building structure but is stopped by the membrane.
Then directed by air gap at the back to an appropriate drainage point this can be in the form of a gravel strip to the base perimeter of the walls or a submersible pump the walls are then plastered directly or dry lined with plasterboard.
If the need arises the floor can be covered with membrane and joined to the wall membrane and then the plastic membrane can be finished with an appropriate floor screed.

Woodworm:
What’s known as woodworm is the common term for the larve of any wood boring beetle its life cycle starts as the eggs are laid in cracks or open joints in timber when they eventually hatch out the larve then tunnel into the timber they then form into adult beetles and consequently bore their way out of the timber.
Treatment:
Investigation whether the infestation is still active or not, which timbers have been affected structurally and if any defective timbers need replacing or the issue can be resolved with specialist chemicals All these factors will influence the type of treatment carried out to eradicate the woodworm infestation.
WET ROT
Wet Rot is a wood destroying fungi which attacks timber in building and is a common cause of structural defects in timber and is often found in cellars. It requires high moisture content for it to grow but does not spread through masonry and will not affect dry timber.
The growth will cease when the source or cause of the moisture or water is removed and adequate ventilation is also installed any affected timbers would need replacing.
DRY ROT:
Dry rot is the most virulent type of wood rotting fungi,
Dry Rot is a fungus that destroys wood /timber and although it affects forest timbers, dry rot is best known for its ability to destroy timbers in buildings and is caused by dampness, running water, poor ventilation and bad maintenance.
The fruiting body which is red/brown in appearance produces spores which are deposited as a layer of brick red dust throughout the building, with dry rot there is extensive fungal growth and another sign is a distinct cracking of timber.
To successfully eradicate Dry Rot all traces of the fungus would need removing and the source of moisture must be stopped The work would also usually mean the replacement of the all decayed timbers and improved ventilation where possible there can be extensive work required to rectify the problems caused by dry rot.

Tim which I have used in the past who was recommended by a friend to do our block paved drive which was in its self is a superb job and still looks superb 6 years on.There was no question who I was going to ring to completely remodel our rear garden I worked with Tim on the designs, Tim Came back with the final patio design which me and my wife loved and couldn't wait to get started on, the quote was also very good in light of the work that had to be done.
The design patio was, raised railway sleepers which had to incorporate a water feature L.E.D Lights and flower beds, Tim recommended the Railway sleepers & Indian sandstone for the flagged area which in themselves are a stunning product which looks the business now they have been laid, I would recommend Tim to make designs come true from start to finish he has made a truly magical space for me and my family to enjoy for years to come.
